Our Work

01
Traveling Health Clinic
HU members will be trained to measure heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, hemoglobin levels, blood glucose levels, administer visual acuity exams, distribute rapid tests (HIV/Covid/STD), and more in order to provide unhoused individuals information about their current state of health. Those with EMT licenses or similar credentials will also disinfect and bandage lacerations.

In addition, volunteers will help educate shelter members on basic health, refer them to professional clinics, and distribute informational guides and packages. We plan on collaborating with medical students, optometrist, and physicians.
02
Nutrition initiative
HU works to provide unhoused individuals with proper nutritional resources. Members create resource guides to locate food pantries and access to fresh food in different areas. Members deliver fresh produce donated by local grocery stores to shelters, educate individuals on how to incorporate nutritional changes into their diet, and provide locations of food pantries in the area.

03
Documentation
HU members research how to get documentation for residents of various unhoused camps. Documentation includes things like birth certificates, state identification cards, permanent addresses, social security cards and more. These types of documentation allow residents to have greater access to things such as government assistance. Members help raise the funds to help residents get documentation, as well as help them through the documentation process.
04
Harm reduction
HU works to provide access to resources for those struggling with substance abuse disorder. We focus on harm reduction, safe practices, and connection to proper services. We are working with local high schools to create mentor programs with our members!

05
Sharing Stories
Our marketing team is working to develop a media project to highlight the lives and experiences of the unhoused people we work to support.
